Lollie Mara texted me that she could pass by for me on her way to Rico Puno’s party. The singer was hosting an asalto for his manager, Norma Japitana. Lollie said she would drop by after the mass at Mowelfund for Helen Cruz.
There?s only one Helen, so the mass was organized by the Samahan group (made up of former stars of the ?50s and ?60s).
Memorial
I requested Lollie to pass for me before going to Mowelfund, since I also wanted to attend the memorial.
It turned out, I knew Helen Cruz (aka Pablo Juanillo) years before Nikki Ross, Susan Roces, Delia Razon, Barbara Perez, Boots Anson-Roa, Pempe Rodrigo, Sarah Calvin, Elsa Payumo, Marichu Maceda, Encarnita Abiera, and Boots and Dolor Plata, who were some of the Samahan notables at the mass officiated at by Fr. Faraon.
