Over thirty people in the transgender and LGBTQI community came together early in November to begin planning the first-ever New England Transgender Pride March and Rally, scheduled for June 7, 2008 in Northampton, MA. Though there is an LGBT Pride held annually in Northampton, this march is a new and specific space to celebrate the trans community and their allies, and to draw attention to pending trans civil rights legislation in MA and CT. It will be a pivotal event in the struggle for trans rights, and for the right of all communities to be visible and respected.
As allies and friends in the LGBTQI movement, we are calling on your support to make this event happen. The march and rally depend on donated financial support from individual and organizational sponsors. All sponsors will be thanked in the event program. These funds will be used for speaker travel stipends, equipment rental, refreshments, and materials for the march (banners, posters, and programs).

We are estimating a turnout of 300-1,000 people, and have already confirmed several high-profile speakers, including Stonewall veteran Miss Major, and author and activist Kate Bornstein. This is an exciting opportunity to support the first-ever march of its kind in New England- a truly groundbreaking event!
