Shifting Gears
Dear Through the Looking Glass Readers,
Thank you for your support these past two years, but alas I must slow down the pace of my writing. As my children have gotten older, now eight and nine, they’ve gotten hard to ignore and actually a whole lot of fun. It has become increasingly difficult for me to carve out the time each month to compose a quality article. So, I’m now striving to sweep away enough of my commitments so that if my wife, Melissa, says she’s taking the kids to some silly movie on a Sunday, I can say, “Sure, I’ve got nothing better to do,” or at least nothing else that need occupy my mind until that first patient walks through my door Monday morning. I will, though, continue to write Through the Looking Glass pieces every few months as inspired will post them on www.aliceingenderland.com and submit them to URNotAlone.
I feel truly blessed to have a secure career, understanding wife, two beautiful children, and a special man in my life. So I’m happy to trim back a bit to accommodate my kids growing needs. I’m sure many of you have similar situations and aspire to similar kinds of balance. I’d like to thank Jon and all my friends here on URNA for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned as trans person and psychiatrist so as to touch, educate, and at least entertain.
