Drag show to raise funds for TransGender Michigan scholarship fund

Issue 1412 – Between The Lines News

LANSING – On March 23 at 9:30 p.m. the second “Kiss My Gender” event will take place at the Temple Club as a benefit for TransGender Michigan’s TJ Jourian Scholarship Fund. The show is produced by Drag King Rebellion, a local drag troupe that combines pop, hip hop and dance routines with a radical political message.

Last year’s “Kiss My Gender” was seen by over 400 people.

Although “Kiss My Gender 2” is organized by DKR, the show features over 10 other performers from Lansing, East Lansing, Detroit, Flint and Ann Arbor. All proceeds from the show will be given to Transgender Michigan’s scholarship fund, a scholarship for Michigan students who are actively working to counter transgender oppression. In addition, all tips will be donated to The Farm Labor Organizing Committee, a migrant farm worker’s union.
