If you see Bette Midler or Celine Dion walking down the street, it just might be the real thing.

Or it could be a female impersonator.

Either way, you are still going to tell your friends you saw them.

And that’s one of the most exciting things about a female impersonator show coming to downtown Palm Springs in the former Atlas Restaurant and Dance Club, says Palm Springs Mayor Ron Oden.

“Can you imagine?” said Oden Wednesday. “They will say they saw celebrity sightings, which will be great for us.”

Elyse Del Francia-Goodwin said Wednesday that she will sign a 10-year lease next week for the empty building at 210 S. Palm Canyon Drive. Goodwin is the founder and director of the Celebrity Impersonators Convention and runs Celebrity Impersonators Look ALikes in Rancho Mirage.

Goodwin said Wednesday the venue will be called the CopyKatz Showroom and Backstage Bistro and will feature a female impersonator show called “Make BOYlieve.”
